External File Upload

Written by Sam Bellingham

You can now upload your own photos to Content Studio, so drone shots, hero images and close-ups sit alongside your Giraffe360 content. Once uploaded, they can be edited, AI-enhanced, used in the Marketing Content Creator and pushed to your CRM, MLS or Zillow with the rest of your listing assets.

You can upload photos in two ways:

  • Create a new project made up only of your own photos. Use this if you don't have a Giraffe360 camera, or the property wasn't captured with one.

  • Add photos to an existing Giraffe360 project, so your extra shots sit with the photos from your camera or photographer.

Uploaded photos are called External photos throughout Content Studio.

Please note - that uploading external images won't count towards the 40/40 limit used when a Giraffe360 camera captures the project. These photos can be added on top of your camera photos and scans. If you are a Giraffe360 camera subscriber you won't be able to create projects consisting of just your own external images but you will be able to had 200 external photos to your projects.

Before you start

Admins and managers can create projects and upload photos. The feature is available on every plan.

Photos per upload For Giraffe Camera Subscriptions

Up to 200

You'll also need enough free storage on your account. If your storage is full, new uploads are paused until you free up space or add more (see Storage, AI credits and your plan).

Create a new project for your own photos

  1. In Content Studio, go to the Projects view and select [Create project] by clicking the + in the top right.

  2. Give your project a name, for example the property address.

  3. Select Upload Assets, or drag and drop your photos onto the upload area.

  4. Review any photos that were rejected (see Upload progress and rejected photos), then continue.

  5. When the upload asks about photo information (metadata), choose whether to keep it or remove it. Location data is always removed (see Privacy, metadata and content checks).

Your photos appear in the project as they finish processing. You can add more photos to the project at any time by selecting Upload Assets again.

Add photos to an existing Giraffe360 project

  1. Open the project in Content Studio and go to Still Photos.

  2. Select the External folder.

  3. Select Upload Assets, or drag and drop your photos onto the upload area. If the folder is empty, you'll see the upload button in the middle of the page.

  4. Review any rejected photos, then continue.

Your uploaded photos are saved in the External folder and also appear in the All folder.

Upload progress and rejected photos

Photos upload in batches, and you can see the status of each batch as it goes. While photos are processed, placeholders show where they'll appear in the project.

Every photo goes through an automatic content check before it becomes visible. If the check can't run for any reason, the photo stays In Progress until it can be checked.

If a photo is rejected, only that photo is affected. The rest of the batch carries on uploading. Content Studio shows which photo was rejected and why, for example:

  • The file format isn't supported

  • The file is larger than 30 MB

  • The resolution is below the minimum

  • The photo didn't pass the content check

Fix the issue and upload the photo again.

If you close your browser during an upload, any photos that have finished uploading are kept. When you come back, you'll be asked to continue processing them, and told which photos weren't uploaded so you can add them again.

Finding your uploaded photos

In Still Photos, uploaded photos are kept in the External folder and also shown in All. In a Giraffe360 project, the All folder lists photos in this order: Originals, then External, then AI Enhanced.

Uploaded photos are renamed automatically, and your original file names aren't kept:

  • In the grid view, photos show a short name such as still001.

  • In the gallery view, the full name is shown in the format EXT-ID-UPLOAD-STILL.

Portrait and landscape photos are both supported and keep their original shape.

Uploaded photos are included in your on-demand archive. They aren't shown in delivery emails or on the share page.

Editing and using your uploaded photos

Uploaded photos work in the photo editor just like your Giraffe360 photos. You can:

  • Blur areas of the photo

  • Apply a Color Profile

  • Remove objects

  • Replace TV screens

  • Crop the photo

  • Change settings such as watermark and aspect ratio

  • Add a digitally altered watermark

Some editor tools depend on your plan (see Storage, AI credits and your plan).

What happens automatically. Your color presets are applied to uploaded photos. TV screens and skies are not replaced automatically, so use the editor if you want a TV replacement. All uploaded photos are treated as indoor photos; if one is an outdoor shot, change its Color Profile in the editor.

Original shape is kept. Uploaded photos aren't cropped automatically. They're downloaded and pushed to your CRM in their original aspect ratio.

AI enhance. You can AI-enhance an uploaded photo with the AI enhance tool. A new version is created and saved in the AI Enhanced folder, and your original stays in External.

Marketing Content Creator and websites. Uploaded photos are available in the Marketing Content Creator, and can be used on your Property Website and Agent Website.

Downloading

When you download uploaded photos, choose a quality: Highest, High, Medium or Low. Photos download in their original aspect ratio.

Deleting

You can delete any uploaded photo. If the photo is being used elsewhere, such as on a Property Website or Agent Website, you'll see a warning before it's deleted so you can decide whether to go ahead.

Privacy, metadata and content checks

Location data is always removed. Any GPS or location information stored in your photos is removed when you upload them.

You choose what happens to other metadata. For other photo information, such as camera details and date taken, you'll be asked whether to keep it or remove it all.

Every photo is checked before it's visible. Uploaded photos go through an automatic content check to make sure they're suitable. A photo isn't shown anywhere until it passes. If it doesn't pass, it's rejected and you'll see the reason.

FAQ

Why was my photo rejected? Check the reason shown next to the photo. The most common causes are an unsupported format, a file over 30 MB, a resolution below the minimum, or the photo not passing the content check.

My photo is stuck on In Progress. What should I do? The photo is waiting for its content check. It will appear once the check is complete; there's nothing you need to do.

Why don't my uploaded photos have their original file names? Uploaded photos are renamed automatically so names are consistent across your project.

Why wasn't the sky replaced in my uploaded photo? Sky and TV replacement aren't applied automatically to uploaded photos. You can replace a TV screen in the photo editor.

My outdoor photo looks wrong. How do I fix it? Uploaded photos are treated as indoor photos. Open the photo in the editor and choose an outdoor Color Profile.

Can I move camera photos into a project I created for uploaded photos? No. You can merge an External-only project into a camera project, but not the other way round.

Do uploaded photos appear on the share page? No. They're included in your on-demand archive, but not in delivery emails or on the share page.

What happens if I go over my storage limit? Your existing photos are kept, but you can't upload more until you free up space or buy more storage.
