‼️ Gaussian Splatting capture is only available with the Giraffe360 Pro (LiDAR v2) camera and the automatic tripod.

Only internal scans can generate Gaussian Splatting videos. Outdoor scans are supported through virtual tours.

Pre-Capture Checklist

  • 💡 Turn on all main lights in the property before you begin. Keep them on throughout the entire scanning process to maintain lighting consistency.

  • 📸 Keep the camera stable: Do not shake, tilt or rotate. Always keep the camera perfectly level throughout the capture process.

  • 🧊 Freeze everything:

    • Do not move any furniture or objects once scanning has started

    • Do not open or close doors between scans

    • The environment must remain unchanged during the entire capture

Capture Best Practices

Tripod

Make sure there is at least 1.6 m (5′3″) of clear space from the tripod base upwards.

Scan Density

  • Capture one scan every 1.5–2 meters (5 – 6.5 ft). This ensures high detail and better reconstruction fidelity

360° Coverage

Treat the process like 3D scanning. Ensure all objects are captured from multiple sides.

  • Example: When scanning a bed, capture from the left, right, and above if possible.

  • For bathrooms, scan both sides of toilets and sinks.

  • In tight spaces (e.g. pantries, WCs), try to take at least two closely spaced scans.

Zig-Zag Pathing

  • Especially in hallways, follow a zig-zag scanning pattern for better spatial coverage

Doors Strategy

  • Decide which doors stay open or closed before beginning the scan — and leave them that way for the entire process

  • For small or unused rooms (e.g., pantries or utility closets) that aren’t meant to appear in drone footage, you may close those doors before scanning begins

  • Do not move or adjust doors at any point during the capture

  • Drone flythrough videos will only include rooms visible through open doors

Corners Rule

  • Try to take a scan in each corner of every room, about 50cm from the corner. This improves drone flythrough videos, especially at room junctions

Stairs

  • Do not take scans on half floors (intermediate landings). Only scan full floors

Scan Placement Example

The red circles show recommended scan positions. Place scans evenly every 1.5–2 meters, cover all sides of objects, and follow a zig-zag path in hallways for full coverage.
