When it comes to measurements in floor plans, we all have different ideas of what is important. And there’s so much to show! Generally, we depict three different types of measurement information on floor plans: dimensions, measurements (based on dimensions) and area.

Dimensions are the little arrows that indicate, which axes are used for measurements. The dimension arrows will always correspond with the measurements, meaning, if you would ask us to change the placement of the dimensions, very likely, the measurements of the room would also change to correspond to the dimensions.

Measurements often can’t tell you the area of the room, especially, if the room is not a rectangle. It would be more precise to say that measurements indicate the size of the longest walls of the room. The area, on the other hand, doesn’t tell you anything about the length of separate walls, but it will be the precise area of the room in square feet or square meters.

You can choose to show either one of the measurement information types or none.

You can also choose which measurement system you want in your floor plans – metric or imperial, or both. You can make these adjustments through your dashboard, in the presets section. [Read more about floor plan presets here].
