If a property is dark and there are no other means to brighten it up but using extra light (e.g. spotlight), you have to be careful with how and where you place it.

Extra light (sometimes even natural light) can produce strong camera shadows. Some we can fix, but larger shadows (on a wider area) can’t be removed.

To avoid shadows or make sure they're smaller, don't place the extra light behind or underneath the camera - the light beam should be directed away from it.

If you can't avoid having the shadow in your still photos or panoramas, try placing the camera or the light so the shadow is as small as possible (covering a smaller area).

Also, be aware of other objects that might cast shadows as they will not be removed.

Here are some examples to help you understand which shadows we can remove and which we can’t.

Note: We remove shadows that reflect from the camera and sometimes from people, but not from furniture or other objects.

Other tips:

  • When using the Giraffe360 camera, we suggest you switch on the main lights in the rooms, especially during the day if there isn’t enough natural light and always in the evenings

  • Avoid switching on small lamps and lights on furniture. These can leave a yellow tint or an overexposed area that we may not be able to fix

  • Avoid using lamps of different colours as they will leave a specific tint

  • Do not switch lights on and off during the panorama capturing

  • Do not scan rooms that have motion sensor lights. Once the light turns off, the panorama will be dark and impossible to process
