Uses and Benefits of the Crop Tool

Changing Aspect Ratio for Different Platforms

  • Resize for social media formats (e.g., Instagram square, YouTube thumbnail, or Facebook cover)

  • Adapt images for print sizes

Zooming In on Details

  • Highlight specific features, such as a subject's face, an object, or text in an image

  • Improve clarity by cropping out unnecessary surroundings

Correcting Framing Mistakes

  • If a subject was not centred properly when the photo was taken, cropping can help reposition them

  • Adjust horizon lines if the photo was taken at an awkward angle

📌 Alternatively, you can use the resize option in the editor settings to adjust the image size without cropping.
